2019 Patriots Point/Citadel in Charleston

It was not just photography but also a lesson in history on this trip to Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Great kick off to 2019-2020 season!

June 2019 Hilton Head Plantation

Our last Field Trip of the season on June 14 was delightful, under very pleasant weather and we did not have to drive too far. We visited the Whooping Crane Conservancy, the community gardens for flowers and vegetables, Dolphin Head for beach,  Pine Island with its historic Civil War Fort Mitchell and the Cypress Conservancy which was loaded with Dragon Flies.

May 2019 Sea Pines Plantation

On May 1 our Camera Club had a beautiful day at Sea Pines Plantation. Since John Parsons resides and is involved in the community there, he was able to provide us with lots of valuable information. We took photos of Oak Trees from 1635. From there went to Harbour Town. Land’s End Marina was followed by lunch. Rich and Diane Daley garden, Lawton Stables with farm critters, Cemetery of Slaves and the Stoney-Baynard Tabby ruins balanced the rest of the day. It was a very busy and productive outing.

2019 Scandinavia

What a fun trip we had! Just a few hours away from Hilton Head Island one can discover treasures of Cope, Norway, Blackville and Denmark. In Blackville we were treated to a fabulous home-cooking at Miller’s Bread Basket, run by an Amish family.

2019 Magnolia Gardens

Our Camera Club of Hilton Head is fortunate to be in close proximity of Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, America’s most beautiful gardens. The blossoming azaleas were at their best and the peacocks were putting on a show when we visited.

March 2019 Harbour Island and Beaufort

On March 14 a small group of CCHHI members was invited to Harbor Island. We were under the guidance of kindly John Albert. In spite of the absence of expected bird life we found a variety of other creative photo opportunities. After an enjoyable lunch at the hip Beaufort Bistro & Bar, Wren, we visited Beaufort VA cemetery.

February 2019 City Gallery Charleston and a Tour of the Historic District

Our Mid-February field trip to Charleston was inspiring for photography lovers. The prime goal for the members was a visit to view “SOUTHBOUND”, an exhibit of 220 fabulous photographs by 56 artists, of and about the New South. The lunch at A.W.Shuck Oyster bar was an add on bonus. We didn’t leave the Holy City before honing our photography skills.
