12 CCHHI members honed their photo skills on a beautiful sunny day while working on an assortment of photo techniques. The Botanical gardens offer a large diversity of objects such as bamboo, waterfalls, reflective pond, butterflies, orchids, and many other interesting photo opportunities.

September 18th 2015 Macro training and photography with master wildlife photographer Robert Rommel http://www.robertrommel.com along with discovery house chief naturalist Carlos Chacon.  Here are some photos from the event.

May 2015 Spring Island  Fourteen club members took the opportunity to experience a great photo opportunity by exploring a private 3,000 acre nature preserve with a rich diversity of habitats.  Benefiting from the leadership and knowledge of a professional naturalist who lead the nearly 3 hour tour members were treated to a wagon ride making frequent stops for taking photos and learning about the area on a beautiful sunny day in late May.   Participants shared stories and relaxed together over lunch at the Okatie Ale House following the outing.  Here are some of their favorite images!

2015 The Center for Birds of Prey and Cypress Gardens in Avendaw, SC, just north of Charleston. Raptors included varieties of hawks, eagles, owls, and other raptors.  The group enjoyed a flight demonstration and lunch at Sewee Restaurant.  From there they headed to Cypress Gardens in Monks Corner.  Cypress Gardens has been featured in numerous national magazines, popular television shows and motion pictures. Thanks to Jim Smeltzer for guiding this trip!

March 2015 Magnolia Plantation and Gardens and the Angel Oak near Charleston, SC .  We avoided the rain and had a fun time.

2015 Night Sky Imaging  Thanks to trip leader Zach Grether for putting this outing together. The images were shot at the beach near Fran Hubbell’s home. It was a VERY cold night and rumor has it Hot Chocolate was enjoyed by all after the shoot!
